Named after the daughter of local settler James McCandless, the town of Florence is the first place oil was discovered west of the Mississippi River. It is also known as the antique capital of Colorado with quaint shops lining the main street with a variety of restaurants.
The City of Florence sponsors their huge wet/dry parade on the 4th of July and Pioneer Day in September.
